Great stew! Worth the 2 hours of making. I think this is my 5th time making this.

Yes, this recipe can be made in a slow cooker. However, I’m unable to provide specific timings as I haven’t tested it myself. As a general rule, cook the beef first, then add the vegetables towards the end.

Thank you so much for your support, Catherine! This dish should hold up well in the freezer, making it a great option for those busy, no-cooking days. Happy cooking!

Hi Wei,
I have been cooking a similar recipe with more broth to eat with noodles. I will try this recipe precisely as written to eat with steamed rice and also test out the taste of leftovers in freezer for couple of days. Lately, I have been searching for recipes that I could prepare in advance in anticipating of no-cooking on long and busy days.
I am a fan of your site, so many wonderful and tasty recipes.

-Catherine

Hi Julia! Here is the process when using an Instant Pot.
1. Boil beef in a regular pot and skim off the froth (same as the original recipe)
2. Use Instant Pot’s “sauté” function to fry onion, ginger and spices.
3. Add drained beef, all the seasonings, and 2 cups/480ml of hot water (less than the original recipe). Cover with the lid and set to pressure cook (high) for 20 minutes. Then allow it to release the pressure naturally.
4. Add the vegetables and use the “sauté” function, uncovered, to cook and reduce the cooking liquid.
Hope this helps!
